چکیده

Ophthalmoplegia or the paralysis of nerves supplying extraocular muscles can be due to numerous etiologies. In alcohol users, ophthalmoplegia might Wernicke's encephalopathy. A high dose thiamine should used with a index suspicion in such cases, but at same time, other life-threatening conditions not missed. Careful history taking, clinical features and neuro imaging guide identifying likely aetiology. Here, we present case isolated unilateral oculomotor nerve palsy subdural hematoma patient delirium tremens.

Parkinsonsim due to a Chronic Subdural Hematoma

Subdural hematoma is a rare cause of parkinsonism. We present the case of a 78-year-old man with right-side dominant parkinsonism about 3 months after a minor head injury. MRI reveals a chronic subdural hematoma on the left side with mildly displaced midline structures. The parkinsonian features were almost completely disappeared after neurosurgical evacuation of the hematoma without any anti-p...

Lamotrigine augmentation in delirium tremens.

INTRODUCTION Delirium tremens (DT) is most severe neurological complication of alcohol withdrawal with high mortality rate. DT is related to an altered balance of excitatory and inhibitory amino-acid neurotransmitters, which is basically due to upregulation of glutaminergic neurotransmission induced by chronic ethanol exposure. Lamotrigine (LTG) is believed to act by reducing excitatory glutama...

Repetitive Myocardial Infarctions Secondary to Delirium Tremens

Delirium tremens develops in a minority of patients undergoing acute alcohol withdrawal; however, that minority is vulnerable to significant morbidity and mortality. We repor...
